For example, current UK government guidance says British citizens must obtain an Iraq visa before travel and can no longer obtain a visit visa on arrival in Federal Iraq. Federal Iraq visa and e-visa

For travelers who need a Federal Iraq visa, the Government of Iraq’s electronic visa system is an important part of the current process. Current UK guidance says applicants should apply through the Government of Iraq e-visa portal at least 24 hours before travel. Passport validity requirements can also apply; the same guidance says a passport should have at least six months remaining validity and a blank page.

Do not assume that a visa-on-arrival option applies to your passport. Airline staff and border authorities may check your documentation before you travel or when you arrive.

Federal Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan are not the same visa system

If your itinerary includes Erbil or other parts of the Kurdistan Region, check the Kurdistan Regional Government’s current visa rules separately. A KRI visa is not automatically the same as permission to travel throughout Federal Iraq.
